The A Plague Tale series was quite a breakout success for the up-and-coming team, Asobo Studio, and following the positive reception of both Innocence in 2019 and Requiem in 2022, it seems that Amicia’s story isn’t quite finished, or at least, that’s what recent job listings suggest.
In a post on its official LinkedIn page, Asobo Studio posted an image of all its current job openings at the studio, and certain positions have caught the eye of many. All positions have a parenthesis at the end, which specifiy which internal team the candidate will be a part of. Most of these positions say “FLIGHT SIM,” referring to the prolific Microsoft Flight Simulator series, which Asobo is now also spearheading.
But a handful of positions say “PLAGUE TEAM,” which evidently suggests that the A Plague Tale series has yet to reach its conclusion and that the studio is currently working on its next installment. The positions are Senior Gameplay Animator, Senior Game Designer, VFX Artist, and Senior AI Programmer.
However, although this may be taken as an inarguable confirmation, it’s worth pointing out that unlike the “FLIGHT SIM” tag, the term “PLAGUE TEAM” specifically alludes to the team who worked on it and not exactly the game.
Therefore, take this with a grain of salt, as it could be that the Plague team is actually working on some other new IP, and is simply being labeled this way in the job listings, partly to easily label the team in question, and partly so that candidates can get an idea of the type of game they’d be working on.
Some believe that another Plague Tale title being in development was obvious, due to Requiem’s ending. We won’t get into specifics here, of course, but it’s worth mentioning that some interpret Requiem’s ending as quite conclusive. However, all things considered, the most likely scenario is that Asobo’s working on another Plague Tale sequel, purely because of how well-received the other two games were, with Requiem even getting nominated for Game of the Year at the Game Awards.
