Home to some of the beautiful game’s most respected managers, such as Carlo Ancelotti, and some of the best players around, like Karim Benzema, La Liga is widely regarded as being one of the best domestic football leagues on the planet, despite the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo no longer plying their trade in Spain. The division has certainly helped shape the careers of young talents over the years, though, including Messi himself. 

 

Known by football fans around the world for its largely technical style and progressive nature compared to some kick and rush aspects of English football, for example, Spain’s top flight provides the perfect environment for a youngster to progress. While the more physical nature of the Premier League might enable a bright talent to learn the defensive side of the game in more detail, the attacking aspect of football is perhaps best picked up at a Spanish club. Thankfully, for fans of La Liga, alongside the fastest players in the division, it’s a league that continues to produce a number of prestigious talents who will be aiming to replicate the career of the aforementioned Lionel Messi, a graduate from La Masia, Barcelona’s fantastic youth academy. 

 

Spanish football has reaped the rewards from a conveyor belt of talent for a good while now. For example, the Spanish national team has benefitted massively from a number of homegrown footballers that have gone on to become icons of the game. Even today, major sides like Barcelona and current title holders Real Madrid, who are 13/10 to retain the title this year according to La Liga betting, have placed a great deal of faith in inexperienced youngsters with bags of ability. It’s the Spanish way, particularly when looking around the division and seeing the array of talent that is currently emerging. With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the talented youngsters that are worth following this season. 

 

Mohamed-Ali Cho – Real Sociedad

 

Playing senior men’s football since the age of 16, Mohamed-Ali Cho is a youngster with a bright future in the game. The striker, now aged 18, plays for Real Sociedad, and despite failing to get off the mark yet this season, the young Frenchman has obvious potential. An Angers academy graduate, the quick frontman scored four goals in 32 appearances for Angers before sealing a move to Sociedad. Mohamed-Ali Cho is certainly one to watch as he continues to mature and grow. 


 

Alejandro Balde – Barcelona 

Alongside the likes of Gavi, Ansu Fati, and Pedri – three youngsters who also deserve mention – Alejandro Balde is another Barcelona wonderkid with scary potential. After making the Spain squad for the World Cup in Qatar, Balde’s stock has risen of late, with the attacking full-back evidently progressing under the tutelage of Barcelona’s designated starter and vastly experienced World Cup winner, Jordi Alba. Balde has a lot to learn, but when he does, he could turn out to be one of the best full-backs around.

 

Juan Miranda – Real Betis

Despite being one of the older players on the list, Juan Miranda has plenty of room to grow at the age of 22. The Real Betis full-back came through the esteemed La Masia academy before joining Betis on a permanent deal after impressing on loan. Although Miranda failed to make Spain’s World Cup squad, he is regularly impressing for the under-21 side as he continues to make a name for himself. 

 

Nico Williams – Athletic Bilbao

Evidently wanting to build on his World Cup performances with Spain, Nico Williams’ potential is clear to see. Aged 20, the talented wide man has been turning it on for Athletic Bilbao this season, with his pace and direct running causing a number of problems for La Liga’s defenders. After making a solid start to the season so far, many fans and experts alike are suggesting that Bilbao’s improved fortunes are down to talents like Nico Williams. Make no mistake about it either, bigger clubs are already circling. 

 

Other talented youngsters to follow in La Liga include Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad), Jesus Vazquez (Valencia), Pablo Torre (Barcelona), Miguel Gutierrez (Real Madrid), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Julen Agirrezabala (Athletic Bilbao), and Yeremy Pino (Villarreal).
