A Tour Through Mayfair With Well Traveled

Mayfair is one of London’s most exclusive neighborhoods. Filled with five-star hotels, chic restaurants, high end boutiques and plenty of stylish locals, Mayfair is the place to go if you are looking for a good time in London. However, it can be a bit daunting figuring out where to go—that’s where Well Traveled comes in.

What is Well Traveled?

Well Traveled is a members-only travel community founded by Samantha Patil and Casi Hough. Annoyed with how difficult it was to find the best places and hidden gems in the world’s big cities, they launched Well Traveled to change all that. According to co-founder and CEO Samantha Patil, “It’s no secret that finding relevant, trustworthy travel recommendations is both frustrating and time consuming, so I decided to do something about it. After doing a little more research, I realized the majority of companies in the travel space are founded by and run by men and yet women make 80% of all travel decisions. While Well Traveled isn’t exclusively for women, but about 75 percent of our members identify as female.”

Right now, Well Traveled offers guides, tips and tricks for places like London, Paris, and Barcelona, but is expanding every day. Members get access to other members’ tips and suggestions, as well as vetted opinions on places they may be interested in visiting. “Our mission is to build a travel company for those who are not being served by the current travel ecosystem. We’re building Well Traveled for conscious travelers who work hard and want to enjoy life but also care deeply about where and how they’re spending their hard-earned cash and time.” Said Patil.

Visiting Mayfair, London

One of the hassles of visiting a big city is that you often only have time to venture out to one or two neighborhoods. What’s nice about Well Traveled if that you can easily sort by neighborhood to see the places in the area that you are interested in—and you can view the recommendations via a map or list layout.

So, in London, if you toggle to Mayfair, you will see a some interesting places pop up—but as a member you can also add in your own endorsements as well.

Where to Go in Mayfair According to Well Traveled

Claridge’s

The Claridge’s bars are consistently at the top of the list when it comes to Mayfair recommendations. However, if you have to choose just one to try—the Fumoir is the place for a romantic rendezvous. Dark and sophisticated, it is just as about as London as it gets. When it comes to what to order, their cocktail list is filled with twists on old favorites, but trust me they do the originals just as well.

The MAINE

The MAINE Mayfair is the new kid on the block. Open since November, the MAINE is the latest creation by Canadian restaurateur Joey Ghazal and aims to bring a bit of New England to one of the oldest buildings in the neighborhood. Housed in one of the few remaining Georgian townhouses in Mayfair, the MAINE offers multiple places to dine or enjoy a few drinks across its three floors.

HUSH Mayfair

Another place offering both dining and bar service, HUSH is an exciting place to visit this winter because they have teamed up with Highclere Castle Gin to offer not only some spectacularly creative cocktails, but also a festive atmosphere long after Christmas is over. The two brands have created a magical space for revelers to enjoy throughout the long Winter in central London.

sketch

Last but not least, Well Traveled members love sketch. Recommended for afternoon tea, drinks or dinner, sketch does it all well. But of course, it has to be mentioned that it is perhaps the most instagrammable space in Mayfair and for good reason. Each space offers something different, whether you try the Gallery for tea or the Lecture Room for drinks you are bound to have a good time.
