A woman has gone viral for advising people on how to marry a ‘high-value man and become a housewife’

A content creator has gone viral for her controversial views on being a housewife and – let’s just say – a lot of people aren’t convinced. 

In a video, which now has 1.4 million views, Aly Drummond advises on “how to marry a high value man and become a housewife.” 

In response to the question “what do you do for a living?” Aly replies, “Oh, I love my husband,” explaining that in order to get this “job,” she became a “better human being, [she] became more feminine and also – shocking – submissive.” 

The interviewer then asks, “what are your tips for women who want to be a housewife?” Aly responded, “Embrace it! It’s an actual job – you just can’t get it in the public or private sector.” I mean, so far, we’d say that’s mostly accurate? However, she continued, “You need a man to hire you for it.” 

Aly explained her reasoning, outlining that “If you think about it, you submit to your boss at your retail job, right? Wouldn’t it be better if you were cleaning your own shelves at home?” adding that “Your boss wants to sleep with you – in a good way!” 

She continued, “I think women should work for the men that they wanna pursue […] If you want a lawyer, you should be a paralegal; or if you want a dentist, then you should be a dental hygienist. But these are considered ‘high-value/high-status’ professions – I think that’s a really good model that not many women utilise.

“Women will bully the woman who is a secretary that married the doctor. But who has the last laugh? [It will be] her in the mansion with her husband and the baby!”

At first glance, Aly’s video appears to be aligned with the “tradwife” movement, which had a moment back in 2020 (and prior to the women’s rights movement – obviously).

On the surface, being a tradwife is about spending more time with your partner and children, as Amy Hunt described in Women and Home:

“A ‘tradwife’ (short for traditional wife) is a 21st century woman who has decided to embrace super traditional, conventional gender roles, by ‘submitting’ to their husband and not working, staying at home to do the typical household chores, and care for the children.”

In all honesty, if this is your preference, you do you. As Alena Kate Pettitt – a housewife and author who experienced brief fame in 2020 after an interview about being a tradwife on This Morning went viral –  says: “My view on feminism is that it’s about choices. To say you can go into the working world and compete with men and you’re not allowed to stay at home – to me is taking a choice away.”

However, Aly told GLAMOUR, “the trad wife thing is hilarious, no one can tell me what a trad wife is. Modern conservative women aren’t that different from liberal women. Legitimately. At least romantically, we make similar choices. I just like wearing dresses. I don’t like revealing clothing unless I have to wear it for the gym or a special sexy night.”
