In addition, there are a number of financial barriers which businesses have to prove.

By law, a business has to prove they have access to a set amount of finance to run their operations, depending on how many vehicles they have.

The first vehicle in a fleet will require £1,600 worth in finance, with an extra £800 per additional vehicle in the fleet.

If a business has a fleet of five vans, they need to prove they have access to funds of at least £4,800.

This comes as drivers have to start registering their haulage journeys with Europe from February 2, 2022.

From that date, drivers will need to use an online EU portal to register the details of some journeys within the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

This will apply to vans, LGV, vans and cars towing trailers, HGVs and HGVs towing trailers.

A journey must be registered if someone transports goods between two points in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway for commercial purposes.

This could be as simple as loading goods at one point and unloading them at another point in any one of those countries.
