Activision has been the victim of a hack that may have leaked information about the future of Call of Duty and more.
According to a Vice report, hackers accessed this information by tricking an employee into giving them their SMS two-factor authentication code to log in to their Slack. The hacker leaked information regarding a handful of upcoming seasons for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II with information on new operators, weapons maps, and conversations between co-workers in their #general channel.
The report goes on to say that Activision said the following in a statement: “Following a thorough investigation, we determined that no sensitive employee data, game code, or player data was accessed.”
Late last year, Rockstar was also hacked by a Slack breach in September. The hacker uploaded over 90 clips of unfinished gameplay of the upcoming GTA 6. Some included gameplay that appeared to be taking place in Vice City and showed two playable characters.
