The NSX Type S has left the building. “The building” in this case being Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Ohio where, up until this week, the Acura NSX Type S was in production. That ended on Wednesday, November 16, when the final NSX, a matte Gotham Gray-finished 2022 NSX Type S with a #350 of 350 badge, rolled out of the building, bound for a private sale.

The NSX nameplate was revived in 2016 as a second-generation car with a then-groundbreaking system pairing three electric motors with a V6 engine. By 2022, Acura had tuned the powertrain to produce some 600 horsepower and 492 lb-ft of torque. But it never could quite tune sales figures quite as well, moving as few as 23 units in Canada; and 128 in the U.S. in 2021.
The 2022 NSX Type S sign-off edition, however, did a little better, selling out all 350 units.
Hands at the PMC Ohio plant won’t go idle as the final NSX drives away. Acura has already fired up production of a 2023 Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition. Three-hundred units will be made in total, and the first couple hundred in Curva Red or 130R White (both NSX-born colours) have already sold out. Another one hundred Long Beach Blue models will follow, with reservations opening December 8.
