Adam Silver and the NBA are waiting for the Finals to finish out before making an announcement regarding the punishment for Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.
Based on the tone put forward by Silver, the punishment to start the 2023-24 season sounds like it could be quite severe. With this suspension decision looming, a member of Morant’s camp recently claimed that the gun Morant waved in the infamous Instagram live video was actually just a “toy.”
Silver was asked about this excuse during a recent appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.
“The very issue was treating the gun as a toy,” Silver explained. “That’s what we’re talking about and that’s what I think the danger is to society… I think everyone agrees that gun safety is critically important — and that guns aren’t toys.
“Should it matter whether or not it’s a real gun? … We’re going to take into account whatever is presented to us.”
