Adele announces 2022 Las Vegas residency

Adele has announced she’s heading to Sin City in the New Year.

Following the release of her chart-topping new album 30 , the Grammy winner will take up residency at the Colosseum inside Caesars Palace.

The concerts —  dubbed “Weekends with Adele” — will begin on Jan. 21, 2022, and run through April 16, for a total of 12 weeks.

The news comes after the pop star’s fourth studio album, 30 , debuted at No. 1 in 30 countries around the world, notching the year’s biggest sales numbers in just three days . The record sold 839,000 units, more than doubling the year’s previous biggest sales week, which Taylor Swift scored the week before with Red (Taylor’s Version) , hitting number one with 369,000 equivalent sales.

The album also became the top-selling LP of 2021, topping Taylor Swift’s late 2020 release Evermore , which has sold 462,000 copies over 11 months.

Adele previously said she wouldn’t mount a large-scale tour in support of her latest release because of uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s too unpredictable, with all the rules and stuff,” she told Rolling Stone . “I don’t want anyone coming to my show scared. And I don’t want to get COVID, either.”
