ABU DHABI, 14th September, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) took part in the celebration of the Gulf Family Day, which coincides with 14th September under the slogan “Cohesive Gulf Family…. For a Sustainable Future”.
There were several activities reflecting the occasion’s importance in its first edition, aiming to consolidate the foundations for Gulf Family development at all levels.
The activities organised by the ADJD included an exhibition dedicated to family health in the Gulf, offering medical advice and examinations to the ADJD employees and their families, in addition to organising recreational activities for children and families of the department’s personnel. In addition, the employees could virtually attend the Family Forum held in the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, where the “Future Opportunities and Challenges for the Family in the Gulf” was discussed.
On this occasion, Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said that the ADJD’s involvement in the celebration of this event, highlights the role and importance of the family in the Gulf society, and aligns with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, to create a supportive environment for family and strengthen its cohesion in society, to prepare future generations capable of meeting the challenges of their societies and cope with accelerated social and economic changes.
Al Abri also underlined the interest of the UAE in whatever is conducive to preserving the stability of the family, providing the means to support its cohesion, pursuing efforts to improve and advance the status of the family and its role in society, and keeping it strong and cohesive, caring for its children and conforming to religious and moral values and ideals. In this regard, he said, the Judicial Department has implemented several initiatives in favour of the family, as it has extended its activities to the establishment of prosecution services and courts dedicated to family matters, to speed up the settlement of family disputes, preserve the family unit and ensure that children enjoy a stable life away from conflicts.
He explained that the celebration of the Gulf family would contribute to consolidating the foundations of the family and overcome the challenges it faces, through the social and development policies and the strengthening of the culture and behaviours that promote family cohesion in the Gulf society, which will certainly open wider horizons for the process of family development.
The celebration of Gulf Family Day comes in implementation of the decisions taken by the 7th Meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Social Development Affairs of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), held on 21st September, 2021, which, among other things, approved the adoption of 14th September as Gulf Family Day.
