ADJD’s Centre for Judicial Research and Studies prepares study on Judicial Insurance

ABU DHABI, 12th June, 2023 (WAM) – The Centre for Judicial Research and Studies, a division of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), has made significant strides in scientific research and studies, culminating in several noteworthy recommendations.

Among these recommendations is a proposed study on judicial insurance which will allow commercial companies and businessmen to take out insurance against the decisions delivered by commercial jurisdictions that may impose substantial compensation or financial obligations impacting their business activities.

During a recent meeting of the Centre’s Board of Directors, presided over by Yousef Saeed Alabri, Undersecretary of the ADJD, various research topics were deliberated upon to enhance the legislative and judicial framework. These endeavours align with the Abu Dhabi government’s strategic focus on fostering an investment-friendly climate, promoting foreign direct investment, and attaining unparalleled levels of competitiveness and entrepreneurship in the emirate.

Alabri emphasised that the Centre for Judicial Research and Studies is steadfast in its commitment to deepening scientific research, equipping legal professionals with profound judicial and legal knowledge. This commitment aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, who advocates for the development of a pioneering judicial system at regional and global levels.

Alabri further emphasised the importance of developing a comprehensive study on judicial insurance, particularly given the rapid transformations occurring across various sectors in Abu Dhabi. The exponential growth of business activities necessitates the pivotal role of this type of insurance in positively influencing business dynamics, fostering sustainable development, and bolstering investor and corporate confidence in the legal and economic environment.

Furthermore, the Centre is preparing a study on the “Metaverse” as part of its ongoing efforts. This study seeks to outline the legal framework and national legislation required to keep pace with this groundbreaking technological creation. The Metaverse proposes pushing virtual reality’s boundaries, enabling users to interact within a three-dimensional digital realm constructed from virtual representations of people, places, and objects.

In its annual work plan, the Centre for Judicial Research and Studies has also approved several studies, including drafting legislation pertaining to the recovery of fines and regulations concerning construction works and contractors in Abu Dhabi.
