From eating crumpets naked while letting ‘butter drip down his front’ to reading Adrian’s articles aloud as he performs ‘sex acts on himself’, Adrian’s alarm is hardly surprising.
Admitting Mike looks ‘a bit’ like him, the One Show host explained his impersonator lives in Leeds and is a former social care worker.
Adrian, 55, confessed that after reading Mikes’ story he was left ‘patting himself on the back somewhat’ but added that his emotional response to his impersonator’s tale was ‘mostly bad’.
Writing in the Guardian, Adrian explained Mike’s story was featured in Sunday Sport, noting: ‘I’d been sent the article on my phone. The headline read as follows: “I make a GRAND A DAY cos they think I’m ADRIAN CHILES”.’
Adrian went on: ‘As soon as I’d got the gist of the story, recoiling in horror, I pinched the page smaller again.’
He was also shocked to learn that Mike refers to his Adrian-loving subscribers as ‘Chillies’ and said that although requests started out fairly ‘vanilla’, they’ve since ‘moved onto the hard stuff’.
Mike explained: ‘They asked me to strip while reading out the weekend’s football scores or describing Brummie landmarks but it soon got darker.’
He also revealed: ‘It’s mostly men but there’s a woman who pays me £200 a week to eat crumpets naked and dribble butter down my front all while spouting inane drivel in a West Midlands accent.’
Mike also claimed he was paid £500 to read out one of Adrian’s Guardian columns, which, according to Adrian, is more than he gets paid to actually write them.
Adrian concluded his story by saying ‘my head hurts’. Ours too Adrian, ours too.
