Zion Williamson trade rumors have been swirling throughout this year’s NBA offseason. But with the 2023 NBA Draft now in the rearview, there’s still been no trade activity for the former No. 1 overall pick.
On Draft Night, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski pumped the breaks on all of these Zion trade rumors.
“I did not find a single general manager who told me they were offered Zion Williamson… [he’s] been in the Pelicans practice facility more this offseason than in recent years,” Woj reported.

Williamson has only been healthy and available for 114 games since he entered the league as the Pelicans’ top pick in 2019. But, when he is healthy, he’s proven himself as one of the most dominant players in the league.
Through 29 games this past season, the second-time All-Star logged 26.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game on 60.8% shooting from the field. The New Orleans franchise signed him on a five-year, $197.2 million max contract extension last summer.
“I’m not going to let the city down. I’m not going to let my family down. Most importantly, I’m not going to let myself down,” Williamson said of his extension last year.
“The ultimate goal is to win a championship. That’s what we’re all striving for. We’re hungry.”
Whether it’s the right move or not remains to be seen, but it appears the Pelicans are sticking with Zion for at least another season in 2023-24.
