Juventus star Adrien Rabiot has dropped a major hint over a move to Manchester United.
The Frenchman has held talks with United over a move to Old Trafford after the Red Devils agreed a fee – believed to be in the region of £15m – with Juventus for the midfielder.
The 27-year-old is believed to be seeking wages of around £160,000-a-week to move to the Theatre of Dreams and United have held talks with his mother and agent, Veronique.
James Garner has been put up for sale in anticipation of Rabiot’s arrival, with United keen to recoup some cash as they want to keep their budget intact to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
But while that deal drags on, it appears United are at least closing in on the signing of Rabiot.
The Frenchman appeared in a video with a fan in which he appeared to say goodbye to Italy and Juventus.
The fan says: ‘I am here with the great player Rabiot, of Juventus, now in England. So I wish you the best brother. Bye bye.’
While it’s not clear whether the fan meant that Rabiot was now physically in England or just metaphorically, the Frenchman replied: ‘Thank you, bye.’
Rabiot’s arrival would be a timely boost for Ten Hag, who has lost his first two matches in charge of the club.
Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Andreas Pereira have all left the club this summer, while Christian Eriksen has been the only arrival in midfield.
Ten Hag wants at least two signings before the window closes but time is running out for the board to complete the Dutchman’s objectives in the market.
