AEG’s roaming Denver concert truck is bringing tickets to the people — minus the fees

Pricey concert tickets are a given these days, but if you’re looking to avoid the double-digit service charges and other fees, AEG Presents has the truck for you.

The Denver-based office of the mega-promoter, which books the majority of shows at Red Rocks and Denver theaters such as the Bluebird, Ogden and Gothic, on May 28 launched a roaming “concert truck” that operates out of Mile High Pretzel Co.’s tiny kitchen.

“The truck will offer an opportunity for fans to purchase tickets without fees with the face-to-face interaction you expect at a food truck,” according to the statement. Named the Denver Concert Truck, it “will operate out of two windows, with Mile High Pretzel Co. serving pretzels out of one window, and AEG Presents facilitating ticket purchases and offering giveaways out of another.”

Denver is one of the biggest live-music markets in the U.S., but we’ve never seen anything like this. Instead of standing in line or looking for retailers that offer fee-free tickets, here’s a pop-up option for money-conscious music fans (and who isn’t?). Yes, some tickets will top $100, depending on the artist. But you might be able to save the cost of a few beers or parking.

Some of the recent shows available for purchase, according to AEG, include Jack Johnson, The Flaming Lips, Mt. Joy, The Head and the Heart, Boyz II Men with the Colorado Symphony, Coheed and Cambria, Dispatch & O.A.R, Little Feat, James Taylor and his All-Star Band, Ty Segall & his Freedom Band, Chris Young, Bright Eyes, Mandy Moore, Alice in Chains, Switchfoot, Cuco and Local Natives.

Music and/or pretzel devotees can track its whereabouts via denverconcerttruck.com. The truck debuted at Red Rocks last month and plans to visit Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre, Civic Center park, the Art District on Santa Fe, Empower Field at Mile High, RiNo Art District, South Broadway, Cherry Creek Farmers Market and other locations, AEG officials said.
