aespa has officially joined the “double-million seller” club!
On May 22, SM Entertainment announced that as of the day before (May 21), aespa’s new mini album “MY WORLD” had sold an impressive total of 2,011,388 copies, marking a new personal record for the girl group. Notably, “MY WORLD” was only released on May 8, meaning that it took the mini album just two weeks to surpass 2 million sales.
Only one other girl group album has ever sold over 2 million copies to date—BLACKPINK‘s 2022 album “BORN PINK“—making aespa, who is just two and a half years into their career, the fastest girl group to achieve double-million seller status following their debut.
aespa also previously broke the records for highest first-day sales and highest first-week sales of any girl group album in Hanteo history with “MY WORLD,” which sold 1,372,929 copies on its first day and 1,698,784 copies in its first week.
Meanwhile, aespa’s title track “Spicy” has been topping various major realtime music charts in Korea, and the music video for the song has also been racking up views on YouTube at remarkable speed.
