The two former ROH wrestlers battled it out to save a spot at the finale of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament on Collision and it was Punk who came out on top unlike most of their previous encounters in ROH, PWG, and AWA.

The Canadian crowd played a perfect host to this ferocious battle which was mostly dominated by the behemoth Joe as he used sheer strength to overpower his opponent. Punk pulled off the win with a roll-up which indicated the feud could be stretched.

To re-affirm the plans, Joe ended up attacking the Second City Savior as they were exchanging greetings after the match. Punk was passed out with the devastating Coquina Clutch submission hold but Joe wanted to him beat him down, even more.

The Samoan Submission Machine took out a chair and wanted to hit Punk with it when the latter’s current allies FTR – Dax Harwood and Dash Wilder came out to make the save.

Joe claimed that he’s better than the once longest-reigning WWE Champion and hopefully, he will get to prove it, soon. For now, CM Punk vs. Ricky Starks is booked in the finale of Owen Hart Cup 2023.

The “Absolute” One advanced to the finals after defeating his friend-turned-foe Powerhouse Hobbs on the latest episode of AEW Collision and now he will face the superpower of the All Elite Wrestling roster, next week.

Following Starks’ advancement to the final match, Hobbs turned on his QTV buddy QT Marshall and Aaron Solo. During Starks vs. Hobbs, QT unwillingly cost Hobbs the match which was projected as the storyline purpose for the attack.

In the women’s side of the Owen Hart tournament, injuries continue to make negative impacts. After the delay of Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho due to the former’s unhealthy reasons, another match scheduled on Collision was postponed.

Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Athena was set to face off with Willow Nightingale on Collision, but the AEW star was not medically cleared to wrestle after her latest match in Japan for NJPW.

At NJPW STRONG Independence Day, Nightingale lost her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship to STARDOM’s Giulia in a grueling battle after which it was announced that she was unable to compete in her Owen Hart Foundation Tournament semi-final match.

The good thing is that Nightingale isn’t dealing with a fatal injury and she will be okay to wrestle, next Friday night on Rampage. In the worst, if she’s unable to compete then Athena will get a bye to the final match.
