During the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, this match was announced with a major catch as Mark Briscoe has been appointed to be the special guest referee which might stack the odds against the champions.

Lethal and Jarrett spent the past few weeks with the Briscoe family’s chicken farm alongside Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh and built a good rapport to have the veteran former tag champion on board for this upcoming title match.
Over on Dynamite, FTR was seen asking Jarrett and Lethal to keep their distance from Mark Briscoe as they shared a strong bond with Briscoe and his late brother, Jay. They also had a series of matches over the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships.
However, Jarrett and Lethal eventually dropped the big news of Mark Briscoe doing the official’s duties at Double or Nothing. Thus, this will mark the fourth time that the challengers will be gunning for the tag team titles on AEW programme.

Previously, Jarrett and Lethal had participated in a four-way match for the titles at Revolution PPV in March against the-then champions, The Gunns, The Acclaimed, and the team of Orange Cassidy and Danhausen.
Even before Revolution, Jarrett and Lethal challenged The Acclaimed for the AEW Tag Team Titles, twice. Back on the January 4 episode of Dynamite, they actually won the belts due to interference from Dutt.
But once the referee realized his mistake, the match decision was reversed. A rematch then took place at AEW Battle of the Belts V special, where the Acclaimed retained the titles and wrapped up the feud.
The AEW Tag Team Title Match is the second match declared for Double or Nothing 2023 edition. The main event of the show will see AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF defending his title against Jungle Boy, Darby Allin, and Sammy Guevera in a four-way match.
The 2023 AEW Double or Nothing pay-per-view event is scheduled for Sunday, May 28 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada which falls on the same date as WWE NXT’s Battleground premium live event.
