During the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF teamed with Sammy Guevara to face Darby Allin and ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry with a big stipulation which stated that if Perry and Allin can get the win then they will get a shot to the world title.

Eventually, the two babyfaces picked up the win in the tag match after which the Four-Way Main Event for AEW Double or Nothing 2023 was made, official with the lineup of MJF vs. Darby Allin vs. Sammy Guevara vs. Jungle Boy for the World Heavyweight Title.

It should be noted that Sammy already got himself included in the title shot, last week by winning a Four-Pillar tournament via MJF’s interferences overcoming Allin and Perry in two back-to-back matches.

MJF wanted Sammy to win that tourney and become his opponent at Double or Nothing so that the challenger could digest the pin-fall loss at the title match in return for a blank check provided to him by the champion.

However, AEW President Tony Khan wasn’t happy with this scenario and he was the one to set up this tag team match for last night so that the historic and much-anticipated match containing AEW’s “Four Pillars” could be confirmed.

MJF’s championship run or the self-proclaimed “reign of terror” began in AEW Full Gear Pay-Per-View in November 2022, where he dethroned Jon Moxley, thanks to the outside interferences of his former mentor William Regal.

Moving on, MJF turned heel on Regal with a vicious attack and debuted the custom version of the AEW title (the Big Burberry Belt). To date, the brass heel has defended the belt against Ricky Starks and Bryan Danielson.

At Double or Nothing, MJF’s third title defense will be the first time that the AEW World Heavyweight Championship will be defended in a four-way scenario which makes this a historic occasion, indeed.

It will also be the second time that the title will be on the line in a multi-person situation after Double or Nothing 2021 where the then-champion Kenny Omega retained the belt against Orange Cassidy and PAC in a three-way match.

AEW Double or Nothing 2023 emanates from the T-Mobile Arena, in Paradise, Nevada on Sunday, May 28. The fifth iteration of the annual DoN event will air on the same day as rivals brand WWE’s NXT Battleground premium live event.
