AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts Match returning; Owen Hart Tournament Semifinal postponed

During this week’s Dynamite, The Elite – The Young Bucks and Adam Page faced off against The Dark Order in a six-man tag team match, and they came out victorious in that match only to suffer a beatdown.

Shortly after the match was over, The Blackpool Combat Club members (Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, and Konosuke Takeshita) led by Jon Moxley, came out to the ring and pounced on The Elite to continue the ongoing feud.

Eddie Kingston tried to help the victim trios but they were also brutally attacked by BCC members. After the attack ended, Moxley took the mic and issued a Blood & Guts Match challenge for The Elite.

“It’s about time we finish this. We have all pushed each other to our limits, and now we push beyond our limits. July 19, Boston, TD Garden, and just like someone once said, Blood & Guts.”

Shortly after the segment, the Blood & Guts match’s return was confirmed for AEW Dynamite’s Boston debut show on July 19. Eddie and Moxley also had a backstage face-off in the presence of Moxley’s real-life wife, Renee Paquette.

This will be the second straight year on Dynamite that the Blackpool Combat Club will be involved in a Blood & Guts match given that the leader Moxley has made a career out of this type of hardcore match.

Last year, the BCC members teamed up with Eddie and Santana Ortiz to defeat The Jericho Appreciation Society in a Blood & Guts Match. This year, Eddie is booked against EVIL in the G1 Climax tournament and he might miss the match.

In more news from Dynamite, the scheduled semifinal match from the 2023 Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament was canceled between Dr. Britt Baker and Ruby Soho and it’s been postponed to next week.

Prior to Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter and informed that Britt was dealing with some undisclosed sickness and she was pulled off the show. In her absence, Ruby Soho defeated Alexia Nicole with Britt Baker’s Submission.

There’s no update on the exact sickness of Britt Baker. Interestingly, his boyfriend Adam Cole was pulled from this past weekend’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door due to a similar undisclosed illness, making us believe that they’re under the weather.

Apart from the Owen Hart Cup qualifier, a random Kieth Lee and Swerve Strickland vs. Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin tag team match will also go down on the July 5 episode of AEW Dynamite from the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
