AEW Dynamite: Owen Hart Cup semifinal set; Update from Blind Eliminator Tag Tournament

As seen on Dynamite, Ruby Soho defeated Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. to advance to the next round of the Women’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament. The win came after aid from Soho’s Outcasts cohorts Saraya and Toni Storm.

Soho was immensely happy after the match since it was sweet redemption for her loss to Baker from last year’s tournament at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. This loss also came in the finale match of the tourney.

Last night’s win also marked Soho’s first one-on-one victory over Baker who also defeated Soho in a match for the AEW Women’s World Championship at the first-ever AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam edition in 2021 September.

After the win on Dynamite, Soho had a confrontation with Skye Blue on the ramp as these two will now meet in the semifinal. Blue had already qualified for the next round, last week.

The winner of the matchup between Soho and Blue will go on to face the winner of a match between Willow Nightingale and Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion Athena in the final of this year’s AEW Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

The inaugural tournament in memory of the legendary Owen Hart was hosted last year in the finale of which Adam Cole and his real-life girlfriend Dr. Britt Baker secured the win for guaranteed future championship opportunities.

AEW Blind Eliminator Tag Tournament 2023 also progressed during the latest episode of Dynamite on the TBS Network. Two separate matches went down with four male participants advancing to the next round.

In the opening contest of this week’s Dynamite, Darby Allin and AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy defeated Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland in the first Blind Eliminator Tag Team Tournament Quarterfinal.

In the next qualifier, AEW World Champion MJF and Adam Cole defeated The Butcher & Matt Menard. These two are feuding over the World Title but MJF surprisingly threw a birthday party for Cole after the match.

Apart from the qualifier scheduled on Dynamite, draws for picking Blind Tag Eliminators also went down where Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia were drawn as Tag Team Partners. They will compete against the team of Jeff Jarrett and Matt Hardy on Rampage.
