Both male and female AEW roster members will be participating in the tournament. The men’s division Owen Hart Cup will kick off this Sunday, and in the first match, CM Punk will take on former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima at Forbidden Door in Toronto, Canada.
In the remaining portion of the first-round matches in the Owen Hart Cup, Dustin Rhodes will face Powerhouse Hobbs, Samoa Joe will face Roderick Strong, and Bullet Club Gold’s Juice Robinson will face Ricky Starks on the June 29 edition of AEW Collision.
As per the released bracket, the winner of the Punk vs. Kojima match will face the winner of Samoa Joe vs. Strong. This strongly creates the chance of seeing Punk vs. Joe in the semifinal to recreate an iconic rivalry from ROH.
The match was already teased in Punk’s return match last Saturday night at Collision when he teamed with FTR to compete against Joe and Bullet Club Gold. Punk’s inclusion in Owen Hart Cup also canceled his dream match against KENTA at Forbidden Door.

In the women’s side of the Owen Hart Cup bracket, it features last year’s winner, Britt Baker alongside Ruby Soho, Anna Jay, Skye Blue, Nyla Rose, NJPW Strong Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale, ROH Women’s Champion Athena, and Billie Starkz.
The first match in the bracket will go down this Friday on AEW Rampage where Jay will be going up against Blue. Next night on Collision, Rose and Nightingale will be competing against each other.
The third announcement in the Owen Hart Cup female division tourney will see Athena vs. Starkz during the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV. This match is slotted in the Zero Hour aka the Kickoff Pre-Show of the night.
The final first-round match will be the rematch from last year’s finals where Britt Baker will take on long-time rival Ruby Soho on next week’s Dynamite. Further upcoming matches will happen throughout AEW’s Canadian tour over the coming weeks.
Britt Baker was the winner of the inaugural women’s Owen Hart Foundation Cup in the AEW, last year. Her real-life beau Adam Cole won the men’s counterpart. At a glance, the confirmed first-round matches for this year’s Owen Hart Cup are given below:
