In the opening contest of Dominion, Ospreay prevailed over his opponent after a series of Hidden Blades to the front and back. Soon after the match, the winner took the mic to take verbal jabs at Omega.

“The Aerial Assassin” was ecstatic in even-ing the score with Okada as Omega defeated him to win the title at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January. Ospreay also revealed how that bout also left him with a permanent scar on the back.

Within three weeks’ time the NJPW wrestler will finally get the chance to reclaim that title as Will Ospreay vs. Kenny Omega over the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship has been made, official for the Forbidden Door 2023 event.

This year marks Omega’s first outing at Forbidden Door as he missed the inaugural edition due to an injury. As for Ospreay, Ospreay successfully defended the IWGP US title against Orange Cassidy at the 2022 edition.

During last night’s Dominion, Chaos (Kazuchika Okada & Tomohiro Ishii) and Hiroshi Tanahashi defeated Blackpool Combat Club (Jon Moxley & ROH World Champion Claudio Castagnoli) and Shota Umino to retain the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship.

Soon after the match, a promo aired from AEW wrestler Bryan Danielson (fka Daniel Bryan in WWE) where he was spotted climbing rocks in a desert. In a monologue, he threw the challenge for a match against Okada.

“You wanna wrestle Brian Danielson? You call yourself ‘The Rainmaker?’ Well, you step in the ring with me, and you’re getting into the f***ing desert. And there ain’t gonna be no rain,” Danielson stated after which the match was officially announced.
