OAKLAND — An affordable housing development with more than 100 residences could sprout at a parking lot in downtown Oakland, city documents show.
Oakland Affordable Housing Group has proposed the residential development, which would be located at 315 15th Street in Oakland, according to a preliminary filing with city planners.
The eight-story apartment project is being eyed at a surface parking lot on 15th Street between Webster Street and Harrison Street, the proposal shows.
The development would consist of 126 apartments, the housing plans envision.
Oakland Affordable Housing Group bought the proposed development site in 2016, paying $8 million for the property, according to documents on file with the Alameda County Recorder’s Office.
The project would be constructed next to a seven-story apartment at 1445 Harrison Street.
The housing group indicated in its filing that it intends to use provisions in state law SB 330 as it navigates through the Oakland planning and review process for the project.
SB 330’s provisions include rules to assure a streamlined city approval process for an affordable housing proposal.
Oakland Affordable Housing Group intends to include ground-floor commercial in the development, the project plans indicate.
