Akon given $1 Billion to light up Africa with solar street lights

Konvict Muzik founder Akon has revealed that he once received a $1 billion loan from China to light up Africa with solar street lights and small energy systems.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, When asked if he spent it all yet, Akon joked, “We’re asking for $5 billion now. We did a lot of work. We used it and paid it back.”

The 49-year old says he plans to continue helping Africa with his new $5 billion loan.

“It’s all for energy solutions. Solar is what we do best, but anything renewable, we dipping our hands in it.”

AKON LIGHTS UP 16 COUNTRIES

 In an interview with VladTV, the Locked Up rapper was asked how many Africans have had electricity because of the deal he had with China.

“I couldn’t estimates amounts but we’re literally in 16 countries now…we’re probably close to about 350 to 400 million people with electricity,” he said.

Akon says he has never had the time to reflect on the kind of work he does but Covid forced him to.

“Covid kind of made me understand and realise how much impact I’ve made during the time I was working…When you’re working, you’re in tunnel vision, you don’t even see what you’re accomplishing”.

CHINA BUYING AFRICA THROUGH LOANS?

Speaking to VLADTV in 2019, John Sally confirmed that Chinese people has been systematically giving people loans they cannot pay back and then end up taking land as payment. Which means that they are slowly taking over some parts of Africa.

Akon disputed this and said that China’s economy is bigger than the country itself and so they need a place or a partner to try and expand that.

He said every time he sees such reports he knows it is propaganda.

Akon also shared his thoughts on the current rise in gas prices, conflict in Russia and how he thinks all the conflict will ultimately pan out.
