Earlier this week, the trailer of the Akshay Kumar starrer Cuttputlli was released. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari the film narrates the story of a serial killer, who targets schoolgirls. While the trailer received mixed reaction, especially since the film is said to be a remake of the south film Ratsasan, the film itself is slated to release on Disney+ Hotstar in September. But before it hits the OTT platform Bollywood Hungama has learnt that Disney+ Hotstar has shelled out a whopping Rs. 125 crore to acquire Cuttputlli.

“Akshay Kumar’s recent releases have been going through a bit of turmoil at the box office. However, with Cuttputlli the makers had decided to go the OTT way and Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the film”, confirms a source. Further talking about the amount, the OTT platform spent on this acquisition the source informed Bollywood Hungama, “Yes, the digital streaming rights were sold for Rs. 125 crores to Disney+ Hotstar. Given the current scenario, it is a bonanza for the makers.”
As for Cuttputlli, produced by Pooja Entertainment the film features Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh. Directed by Ranjit M Tewari Cuttputlli releases on Disney+ Hotstar on September 2, 2022.
