Centre Court is the centre of sporting attention with a riveting men’s singles showdown worthy of a spectacular final when Carlos Alcaraz stares across the net at Daniil Medvedev.
The semi-final exchange is the hottest ticket in town and the tension will be palpable as the protagonists slug it out to reach their first Wimbledon final.
Both have won majors before with young Spanish hotshot Alcaraz celebrating his maiden grand-slam success at last year’s US Open just 12 months after Medvedev was hailed as the King of New York.
The former has claimed 18 career titles while the latter has 25 to his credit so winning is par for the course.
They have met twice before with both enjoying victory and the difference between the two appears paper thin.
It all points to tennis fans being served up a thrilling treat as this will looks primed to go the distance.
Over 4.5 total sets is 5/2 with Betway and Alcaraz gets the nod with a 3-2 victory at 11/2 with the same firm and William Hill.
The other semi-final looks a slightly less enthralling occasion but that’s only for those with short memories.
Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner met in last summer’s quarter-finals when the Serbian showed the true hallmarks of a champion by fighting back from two sets down to beat the young Italian 5-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Another victory for Djokovic in the deciding set is 11/2 with Coral, Ladbrokes and Hills.
This year’s Wimbledon has been slammed in some quarters as lacking a little je ne sais quoi. What poppycock.
Whatever happens, we’re set for a wonderful final with the added bonus that it has been a profitable tournament.
Alcaraz, Medvedev and Sinner were flagged up ante-post in this column at 5/6, 3/1 and 2/1 respectively to reach the semi-finals by winning their quarters of the draw which equates to a terrific 21/1 treble.
Djokovic was the obvious 4/6 choice to win an eighth Wimbledon title and he’s now 4/7 with SpreadEx to capture his 24th grand-slam success.
• Surrey are 9/4 with numerous bookmakers to be crowned as T20 Blast champions.
• Shaquille mightily impressed when winning the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot with a storming finish after losing ground when rearing up at the start. Julie Camacho’s stable star is 13/8 with Betfair to win the July Cup at Newmarket.
