Alice in Borderland season 2 not coming to Netflix in January 2022

The wait for Alice in Borderland season 2 has been almost painful at this point, but it seems the pain and waiting will carry on, because the highly addictive Japanese thriller drama, based on the manga series of the same name, is not coming to Netflix in January 2022.

Granted, it would’ve been a miracle to find Alice in Borderland season 2 on Netflix’s January releases list, but we still hoped that we would be getting the new season a lot sooner than what the reality is.

Alice in Borderland season 2 release date

The second chapter in the Japanese thriller has been scheduled for a December 2022 release — a whole two years after the first season originally dropped on Netflix. In Nov. 2021, Netflix confirmed that season 2 had been green-lit as part of their virtual Japan Festival event.

While this might come as a bit of a disappointment to die-hard fans of the show, many of whom had hoped the follow-up to the 2020 series would arrive considerably earlier, with any luck, the next chapter will be very much worth the wait.

On the bright side, this means you have nearly a year to catch up on the first eight episodes if you somehow still haven’t gotten round to bingeing the addictive series.

Alice in Borderland season 2 cast

Kento Yamazaki (Ryōhei Arisu) and Tao Tsuchiya (Yuzuha Usagi) have both been confirmed by IMDb that they’ll be returning for season 2. Currently, they’re the only two actors listed on the page, however, other characters likely to return include Aya Asahina (Hikari Kuina), Nijirō Murakami (Shuntarō Chishiya), Riisa Naka (Mira Kano) and Sho Aoyagi (Aguni Morizono).

New cast members are also expected to be introduced to the season, however, as of this moment, there is no information as to who is joining the main cast.
