All Creatures Great and Small has been airing on Channel 5 and James Herriot (played by Nicholas Ralph) and Helen Alderson (Rachel Shenton) are navigating married life. Meanwhile, Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) is juggling his new responsibilities at Skeldale with finding a romantic partner of his own. Callum Woodhouse spoke to Express.co.uk and other press about another hurdle he has had to overcome.
Tristan Farnon is keen to settle down and find love after watching one of his best friends, James, finally tie the knot.
He has had his fair share of romances over the years, but none have proven to be long-lasting or meaningful.
Yet the newly-qualified vet could have bigger obstacles to tackle and Callum opened up to Express.co.uk and other press about how Tristan gets a new car.
He said: “He does get a new car, a very loud banger, honestly. So we have the Vauxhall and the Rover.

“The Rover is an absolute dream to drive, the Vauxhall is quite tricky to drive. There’s no brakes on it.
“The gas smells really bad. And the action vehicles guy, Gary, was telling me that when they came to him for a new car, he said we need a car for Tristan that is 10 times worse than the Vauxhall.
“They found it, trust me, they found this car which is a nightmare. You need to like sort of start braking 10 minutes in advance when you want to brake and hopefully, you’ll just about stop.
“It was crazy. Every single brake I did, the director kept on saying ‘Can you make it less The Sweeney’.
“It’s incredible,” he said. “They’ll schedule a lot of the time, the breakfast scene is first up on a day.
“When we see that we’re like, ‘Okay, we’re not having breakfast from catering today. We’re just gonna go straight into that scene and properly have our breakfast’.
“Every time we finished one of those scenes, the entire crew sort of descends upon the room and they’re all sort of grabbing for sausages.
“There was a lot full English in this series.” The food is prepared by a home economist to make it look authentic for the era.
He said: “The trousers were getting a little bit tight towards the end. I did have to go on a little bit of a detox since July.”
The star opened up about what he has learned from playing Tristan, inspired by the real Brian Sinclair, over the years.
He explained: “I think what’s been incredible about playing Tristan is that he’s such an optimistic and upbeat character.
“He’s always trying to see the best in things, which I think I could be more like sometimes.
“So being in his shoes for so long, eventually it starts to sort of rub off on you a little bit. It’s really nice.
“He has things that he hides behind a little bit and it’s been really fun to unpack those and see what makes him tick and why so yeah, it’s been really fun.”
