All-Mission League baseball, softball awards highlighted by Colin Brown and Ella Parker

The Mission League announced its all-league selections for baseball and softball for the 2023 season.

Notre Dame swept the big awards. Senior catcher Colin Brown was named MVP and pitcher Justin Lee was named Pitcher of the Year after helping the Knights to a league title.

Brown played all 32 games this season and batted .333 with 31 hits, 20 RBI and four doubles. In his 93 at-bats, he only struck out 11 times. Lee went 6-0 from the bump in 13 appearances and struck out 102 batters in 67 2/3 innings and allowed just 12 earned runs all spring.

SOFTBALL

Notre Dame’s Ella Parker, an Oklahoma commit, was the softball MVP in the Mission League. Sierra Canyon junior Hailey Shuler was the Pitcher of the Year.

Parker had 32 hits, 27 RBI, 41 runs scored and 14 homers this season in just 51 at-bats. She was walked 34 times. Shuler finished the year 10-4 in 18 appearances with six complete games and an ERA of 1.80 She tallied 129 strikeouts in 109 innings.
