ICYMI, GLAMOUR celebrated our 16th Women of the Year awards, in partnership with Samsung, earlier this week. The immense occasion saw entertainers and activists alike – including Kim Cattrall, Munroe Bergdorf, and Cynthia Erivo – being honoured for their game-changing achievements in their respective industries.
On hand to help capture intimate celebrity moments from the night was photographer Joseph Bishop, who shared some unique Polaroid candids with GLAMOUR.
Up first, we have Nicola Coughlan – our TV Actor of the Year – posing with her Derry Girls co-star Louisa Harland, who was kind enough to present her the award, saying, “To many of us, she’s the ‘wee lesbian’ or the shady Lady Whistledown, but to me, she’s the greatest ever Nadine Coyle losing her passport impersonator.”
Cynthia Erivo, our Game-changing Performer of the Year, was spotted with Rings of Power actor Sophia Nomvete who presented her with the award, saying, “This talented performer has earned every ounce of her success […] To the world, she is a groundbreaking star. To me, she is one of my closest friends.”
Anne-Marie was presented with the award for Musician of the Year by none other than Radio 1’s Clara Amfo, who described her as “very cheeky, full of Essex charm, vulnerable and soft, and an absolute beast of a vocalist.” Speaking of incredible vocalists, here’s Rita Ora – who won Entertainer of the Year – posing with her award.
Leading the way (as per usual) for red-carpet fashion was Bimini Bon Boulash, who wore a DONK dress featuring Katie Price because the “nipples are the eyes of the face,” guys. Our Activist of the Year, Soma Sara, was spotted hanging out with Agnes Mwakatuma, the founder of Black Minds Matter UK and one of GLAMOUR‘s 2021 Women of the Year.
Oh look, it’s Ms Rita Ora again! This time, she’s hanging out with one of GLAMOUR‘s 2021 Women of the year, the model Ellie Goldstein.
Elsewhere, GLAMOUR and UOMA Beauty’s Beauty Game-Changer of the year, Munroe Bergdorf, said in her moving acceptance speech: “Beauty is not in the exclusive enforcement of standards of trends: we are not trends, we are not content. We are more than likes and views, we are complex, layered, nuanced individuals – our beauty is in that: our individuality.” Here she is with the inimitable Sharon Cheuter: the founder of UOMA Beauty.
Did we mention that the one-and-only Katherine Ryan was our host for the evening? Here she is, wearing a Gyunel Couture green dress, posing with actor and comedian Emily Atack. They weren’t the only funny women in the room, as Amelia Dimolenberg was awarded Creator of the Year. She poses here with the mighty GB sprinter, Dina Asher-Smith.

Kim Cattrall took home the biggest award of the night, Screen Icon of the Year, which was presented to her by GLAMOUR‘s European Editorial Director, Deborah Joseph. In her acceptance speech, Kim said, “This is what happens when you go where you’re celebrated, not where you’re tolerated.” We’ll be thinking about that one for a long time.
After performing at her stage show 2:22: A Ghost Story in the West End, Laura Whitmore whizzed down to the awards to present Samira Wiley with the award for Theatre Actor of the Year. After the awards, AJ Odudu, Vanessa Kingori, Dina Asher-Smith, and Sophia Nomvete were all happy to pose for a mega-glamorous photo.
