Amadou Haidara is likely to become Ralf Rangick’s first signing as Manchester United manager in January.

The Red Devils confirmed the appointment of Rangnick as interim manager on Monday morning, with the 63-year-old set to be in charge until the end of the season.

Rangick watched Thursday’s win over Arsenal from the Old Trafford stands and will take charge of his new team for the first time against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 63-year-old is unlikely to spend heavily in the upcoming window but, according to The Sun, United can bring forward the signing of Haidara if they are willing to pay £32million next month.

Haidara has a release clause that comes into effect in the summer in his current contract, but his dream move to the Premier League giants could come to fruition six months earlier than planned should United match RB Leipzig’s demands.

Rangnick took the all-action midfielder with him to Leipzig from Salzburg two years ago and is said to have already spoken with the player’s agent, Volker Struth, and a deal is all but agreed.

The Africa Cup of Nations, where Haidara is set to feature for Mali, could represent a barrier but United’s need for midfield reinforcements could prove decisive.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game against Palace, Rangnick outlined his vision for the club and claims he wants to turn United into a team of pressing monsters.

He said: ‘I cannot turn the players we have into the pressing monsters I want them to be within two, three or four weeks.

‘You have to be aware of what kind of players you have and where they stand.

‘I cannot ask things of them that they can’t deliver right now. I have to take them and accept where they currently are. They are experienced and smart enough to know that.’
