Amanda Owen’s son Reuben has taken over her Instagram account to set the record straight on his week-long social media absence.
Our Yorkshire Farm star Reuben, 18, posed for a sweet selfie with his mum, 48, out in the countryside.
For the snap, the Yorkshire Shepherdess donned a zip-up parka jacket which featured a fluffy hood.
Her 18-year-old son stood next to her with his thumb up, wearing a black waterproof jacket, a dark hoodie, and a chainlink necklace.
In the caption of the post, shared with Amanda’s 536,000 fans, Reuben wrote: “I’ve nicked my mum’s phone as mine got ran over by a bulldozer and I’m now locked out of my Instagram for anyone wondering why I’ve disappeared.
“@reubenowen7 be back soon,” he added.
The post explains the groundworker’s week-long Instagram hiatus — his last post being a series of images and videos relating to his work latest project.
Since posting yesterday (Saturday, 15 July), fans of the family have flooded the pair’s selfie with positive sentiments.
One fan wrote: “So happy to see you both! We’ve missed seeing you (sic) and your gorgeous family, keep rising above the darkness you were a light for a lot of us during COVID and beyond, and a lot of people love you.”
A second echoed with a similar comment: “Lovely pic! Unlovely negativity. As Thumper the Disney rabbit said, ‘If you can’t say something nice then don’t say nothing at all!’ Yes I know it’s bad English but that’s the quote (sic) it’s so very true. Be kind or be quiet!”
Another Instagram user said: “Really miss your programmes. After a very hard few years. Losing my grandson etc etc. (sic) Programmes like yours make my day. Keep being (sic) you all keep happy xx”.
Other Instagram users have been commenting on Reuben’s appearance and how much he has “grown” since fans say him on the Channel 4 show.
A fan wrote: “Your son has grown into a man wonderful photo of the two of you.”
“Oh Rueben poor phone didn’t stand a chance,” said another. “Mum to the rescue, great to see you both.”
A third commented: “Very much like your mum. Hope (sic) you’re all well.”
Following the original post, Amanda has provided a further update on how her son is faring without his mobile phone.
Today, the mum-of-nine shared a snap of Reuben working, as well as a selfie taken in the car with two of her daughters.
She captioned the images: “Not too down in the dumps about tracking over his phone. @reubenowen74”.
“Keep these photos coming lovely to see you all,” said one fan.
Another wrote: “That’s cos he’s got his famalam for support.”
