AmaZulu set to rope in former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper

AmaZulu are reportedly on the verge of acquiring the services of a former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper who recently retired from football.

According to UnplayableZA, Wayne Sandilands is on his way to AmaZulu to take up the role of goalkeeper coach.

Sandilands retired from football in July 2022, and he immediately transitioned into coaching where he was Pirates’ Diski Challenge team goalkeeper coach.

The 39-year-old would soon afterwards join Maritzburg United as part of Fadlu Davids’ technical team.

However, the Team of Choice was relegated and the entire technical team was subsequently fired by chairman Farook Kadodia.

Sandilands was then believed to be heading to Morocco to join both Davids and Josef Zinnbauer at Raja Club Athletic.

Nonetheless, that proposed deal never materialised and he’s now set to join AmaZulu to try and stabilise their goalkeeping department.

In July 2022, AmaZulu announced Johan Abselon as Moeneeb Josephs’ replacement but he also got the chop in October with Musa Langa stepping in on the interim.
