“American Idol” winner Laine Hardy was arrested Friday for allegedly spying on a female student at Louisiana State University.

Page Six obtained an arrest warrant for the 21-year-old country singer that shows an investigator found “probable cause” to charge him with one felony count of interception and disclosure of wire, electronic or oral Communication.

According to the report, the alleged victim called LSU Police Department to her dorm room at Azalea Hall, where she had discovered a device under her futon bed.

After doing some research online, the unidentified woman told officers she found out it was a VR-500 voice-activated recorder.

The alleged victim said she believed Hardy was the perpetrator since he is her ex-boyfriend.

The former couple dated from November 2021 to February, at which point she also learned of a fake Instagram account that Hardy allegedly used to cover up his recordings.

The crime allegedly took place sometime between Feb. 12 to 20.

Hardy’s ex-girlfriend told police she confronted the Season 17 winner of the ABC show, and he allegedly admitted via Snapchat to leaving a “bug” in her room but said he later discarded it in a pond. She provided officers with a screenshot of the conversation.

Once LSUPD retrieved the device, they discovered the recordings occurred in five-hour blocks, according to the report.

The audio features everything from random noises like vehicles in the background and people walking by, but one notable conversation that took place from Feb. 16 to 20 included a chat between the ex-girlfriend and her mom about their breakup.

On Feb. 20 2022, the alleged victim is heard in a recording telling someone how she found out about the device and that she does not know if the “bug is still in her room.”

“I understand that my career has thrust me into the public spotlight, and I embrace that wholeheartedly as my entire world belongs to my music and my fans. However, due to the sensitive nature of this allegation, I humbly ask for privacy at this time.”

Hardy concluded, “I have the utmost respect for the law and will assist in their investigation as needed moving forward.”
