Looking for a reason to get out and enjoy nature – or take a possibly once-in-a-lifetime trip to a wilderness treasure? Well, the busy summer season is over, and many National Parks have lifted reservation requirements put into place for overcrowding and pandemic reasons. That means that visiting Yosemite, Rocky Mountain, Arches and other breathtaking parks is easier than ever.
As it turns out, Paste magazine this week put out a list of the best national parks in America, written by a guy who’s visited half of them. Blake Snow ranks Yosemite as No. 1 in his list of 20 parks, writing, “Nothing I’ve ever seen has ever made me feel so small, so vulnerable, so on edge. Not the Alps. Not Patagonia. Not the Grand Canyon. For the best view in all of America, head to Glacier Point.”
Note that Yosemite still requires a $35 fee per car and the current access to Glacier Point – with its incredible views of Half Dome and Yosemite Falls – is via a strenuous trail. But that’s what you’re after, right, an adventure?
Here are the top 10 National Parks, many of which are within striking distance of the Bay Area. Find all 20, including photos, details and hiking tips, at www.pastemagazine.com/travel/.

5. Yellowstone, Wyoming (mostly)
6. Zion, Utah

10. Arches, Utah
