Amy Dowden, 32, is recovering from her single mastectomy after the Strictly Come Dancing star was diagnosed with grade three, aggressive breast cancer, revealing “the cancer is in the lab now”.
Surgeons removed two tumours and three further cancer “specks”, alongside some lymph nodes, from the professional dancer’s right breast.
After the surgery, Amy is waiting to hear the results and is also being forced to come to terms with putting her and husband Ben Jones’ plans to start a family on hold.
Opening up to The Mirror, the Welsh dancer admitted she hasn’t looked at her reconstructed breast yet following her three-hour surgery last week.
“I haven’t looked, I’m waiting for the bruising and swelling to go down,” she told the publication.

Amy, who also suffers from Crohn’s Disease, an inflammatory bowel condition, admitted she was also afraid of how the anaesthetic would impact her body.
“I was really nervous before and I was in a lot of pain when I came round, and sick, and freezing,” the brave star shared.
“But since having my drains taken out I have coped well. Every day has got better in terms of soreness.”
Heartbreakingly, after tying the knot last year, Amy and Ben, with whom she won the British National Latin Dance Championships, had already started planning for a baby.
Before her devastating diagnosis, the couple were going to wait until builders had finished extending their home, and were then going to focus on starting a family.
“It will be another thing to put on hold,” she said.
“They have promised me,” Amy explained of her discussions with doctors about the possibility of having children following her surgery.
She added: “There are no guarantees but they will give it their best shot.”
Amy is now waiting to find out if she will just need radiotherapy, or chemotherapy as well, and needs to meet with a fertility expert to schedule treatment due to her cancer battle.
Amy noticed the lump in her boob just one day before going on her honeymoon with husband Ben.
The Strictly pro then spotted the lump had grown in size and made an appointment with her GP straight away.
