Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes arrived at ABC headquarters together to tape “GMA 3” as if “nothing happened” despite news of their alleged affair breaking, an insider tells Page Six exclusively.
“While producers had been freaking out and having meetings about whether it was right to put them back on air again together, they showed up as a couple and said they were ready and totally fine to go on air,” the source claims.
As Page Six reported, Robach and Holmes began their alleged romance while they were training for the New York City Half Marathon in March but didn’t leave their respective spouses, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, until August.
“Their attitude seems to be that they are both separated, and now they are together, so there’s nothing to hide,” the insider adds.
“GMA 3” aired at 1 p.m. ET but was pre-recorded earlier Thursday after the earlier live “GMA” show, during which the co-anchors opted to ignore the drama, ended.
Another insider exclusively tells us that the scandal has gone as high as newly returned Disney CEO Bob Iger. Disney owns ABC.
“Bob Iger was notified about the affair on Tuesday, and he has been in close contact with ABC News president Kim Godwin,” the second source claims. “Their decision is a ‘watch and wait’ approach.
“Amy and T.J. are peers, they — quite obviously — have great chemistry on TV. They are both separated from their spouses. They are free to be a couple.”
The source adds, “In some ways, this is TV gold, but let’s just hope they don’t break up.”
As Page Six reported, production staffers were “shocked” to hear Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45, had allegedly become romantic despite their sizzling on-air chemistry.
“They have a very cozy relationship on air, but that is what is expected. But they were very careful behind the scenes to keep their affair secret,” an insider said. “The producers at ‘GMA’ are shocked to hear they are having an affair.”
Two weeks before Thanksgiving, photos obtained by the Daily Mail showed the co-anchors on a getaway to a remote cottage. Holmes was recorded grabbing Robach’s butt as she leaned into the trunk of a car.
Neither Shue nor Fiebig have acknowledged the state of their marriages, but Shue did remove Robach from his Instagram page.
Reps haven’t returned Page Six’s request for comment.
