Friday signals the end of an era for the Breakfast Club, as Angela Yee bid farewell to the iconic radio show after 12 years alongside co-hosts Charlamagne tha God and DJ Envy. She announced the career move in August.

“I do want to just say, Angela Yee, job well done,” Charlamagne said on today’s broadcast. “Job well done. They can never take away what we built. We’ve all made history together as a radio show, we’re in the Radio Hall of Fame. We are linked together forever, and us three have created a blueprint for a lot of people to follow.”

“I just thank God for bringing us together, and I thank God for the last 13 years,” he continued. (The program debuted in December 2010.) “I can’t wait to see what God has planned for us next, and I know that it’s going to be incredible, and I know you’re going to have tremendous success with Way Up with Angela Yee.”

Yee, who’s been part of the Breakfast Club since it kicked off in 2010, is set to launch the aforementioned new show with iHeartRadio before the end of the year.

DJ Envy added, “I’m going to miss my sister. I’m not going to miss you taking stabs at me, [but] I’m going to miss my sister.”

N.O.R.E. called into the show, which you can see in the clip above, and reminisced on Yee’s impact on the Breakfast Club, as well as their relationship with one another.

“Come on, let’s let it be about Angela today,” N.O.R.E. said. “That’s right, we’re gonna miss you. We’re gonna miss you, even though you’re gonna be right down the block. You’re still getting that holy moly N.O.R.E. guacamole, so I want to wish you the best. I want to wish the Breakfast Club—you guys have broke ground, you guys have made history.”

The Drink Champs host added, “There’ll never be another Breakfast Club. I want to give y’all flowers, and I especially want to give it to you Yee, because you’ve been my sister throughout this whole thing, and I love you and continue to have your success to all three of y’all.”

Near the end of Friday’s episode, Yee gave listeners a proper sendoff by reflecting on how the Breakfast Club has established itself in the Radio Hall of Fame.

“We’ve had quite a run, so I just want to thank everyone that was up here with us. Looks like the pandemic is over, this is like a super spreader,” Yee said. “But thank everybody for just being here with us and rocking with us for so long. We’re in the Radio Hall of Fame, that is a huge deal, we don’t take that for granted.”

She continued, “Honestly it takes a team of people to be able to do this, and so I’m excited for what the Breakfast Club is gonna do, ’cause y’all my lead-in. So I want to make sure if there’s anything I can do to make the transition smooth other than come up there and work, I will make sure to help in anyway.”
