Animal Lover Moves to her Hometown to Start Animal Control Centre

An animal lover, Ellie Tenge residing in Avery County, North Carolina in the United States has loved animals since her childhood. Ellie’s love for animals began when she was six years old. She crawled in a tiny space to help a fair amount of kittens that were born in insulation.

After cutting out the kittens she realized that it was her calling to help as many animals as possible. This realization brought her back to her hometown in Avery County. She later learned that there was no animal control set up in her hometown and decided to start the Avery County Animal Control along with Emily Jo Turbyfill.

While speaking to a local news agency, Turbyfill said, “Injured, neglected or abandoned are our priority, sick animals. Anything that’s very urgent. It needs to happen right this minute — we need to assist them.”

Since the beginning of their organization in February, they have aided 152 animals. With colder weather on the way, they’ve added a new mission to their list. They’re trying to find a place for dogs and cats to live. The most vulnerable people and animals make their way to them.

Tenge further said, “We want to make sure the animal has shelter from wind and rain, so we’re going to keep doing it. If you have ever driven up and found a dog frozen to death, you would also be giving them a dog house, too.”

The organization provides food to pet parents who are in need of help to feed their furry ones. There is a lot of other stuff that the organization needs and cannot be fulfilled through donations. Those materials are bought by Tenge and Turbyfill themselves.

Ellie Tenge and Emily Jo Turbyfill have full-time jobs and they run the animal organization in their spare time. They mentioned that this job is challenging, especially with little donations, but that hasn’t deterred them. They have found forever homes to the animals they have helped throughout the country.
