Optimism was quite high regarding the Toronto Raptors chances of having a twice-in-their-lifetime season heading into Wednesday’s 2022-23 opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

And for the most part, supporters of Canada’s lone NBA team put their money where their mouth is.

Coming off a 48-win season that showed a marked improvement from a 27-victory campaign in 2019-20, Raptors were entrusted by bettors with continuing the upward trend moving this year.
Not only did their backers hit the OVER on a 46.4 win total hard, but they also showed faith in the Raptors becoming conference champions for just the second time in their 28-year existence.

The first time was 2018-19, when they went on to win the NBA crown.
“We’ve seen a lot of popularity around the Raptors ahead of tonight’s home opener—an overwhelming 97% of bets on the Raptors win total of 46.5 have been OVER bets,” said Rob Warendorf, a FanDuel Trader, before Wednesday’s tip-off. “The Raptors are currently the third most bet on team to win the Eastern Conference, but interestingly enough only the 14th most bet team to win the NBA Championship by bet count.”
