Ansu Fati Swears Life-Long Allegiance To FC Barcelona And Throws Out PSG Interest

FC Barcelona star Ansu Fati has sworn life-long allegiance to the club while throwing out interest from Paris Saint Germain and commenting on what it was like to inherit the number ’10’ shirt from Lionel Messi.

The teenage sensation has just ended another injury-ridden campaign with the Blaugrana and will look to kick on in 2022/2023 with a full term on Xavi Hernandez’s watch.

Penning a lengthy contract with a €1bn ($1.16bn) release clause until 2027 in autumn last year, the 19-year-old has revealed that he plans to be at Camp Nou for the duration of his career and claimed to be unaware of interest from the likes of Paris Saint Germain which doesn’t tempt him in the slightest.

“I didn’t even know about the offers that came for me,” Fati stated in an interview with Canal+.

“From the first moment I told my agent [Jorge Mendes] and my parents that I just wanted to stay in Barcelona. I want to play for Barca all my life. It’s clear in my head, I hope I can spend my entire career here,” Fati continued, in news that will no doubt please Culers worldwide.

As for last season, Fati admitted that it had “been difficult” and that “injuries for a player are the worst”.

“[But] you learn from everything,” he insisted. “Patience is essential.”

“There are much worse situations,” Fati, a well-known family man, also offered. “Having a sick father, having poor health… Mine can be cured. I already experienced it when I was 13 years old, when I broke my tibia and fibula. I thought I wasn’t going to play anymore, but everything goes away,” Fati said, looking on the bright side of life.

As for inheriting Messi’s iconic ’10’ jersey when the club’s greatest player of all time walked to PSG on a free transfer last summer, Fati explained how the number ’17’ had originally been prepared for him.

“However the club called me and proposed the change. The captains accepted it and for me it was an honor. If you are at Barca, you have to be prepared for everything,” Fati warned.
