MCU movies sometimes mean business with their post-credits scenes, and Quantumania delivers two you won’t want to miss.

This story contains SPOILERS for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania arrived in cinemas this weekend, and as seems to be the norm was hated by many critics but loved by audiences. As the first movie of the MCU’s Phase 5, the film delivers what seems like the first big action movie the Marvel franchise has put out in quite a while, and it also delivers two post-credits scenes that help pave the way to two upcoming MCU projects, one of which is pretty unexpected. Read on with the obvious warning of spoilers.

Following the culmination of the main story of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, with everything resolved, the deus ex-machinas playing their parts to perfection and everything back to the status quo for now, the mid-credits scene delivers what many didn’t believe would be coming until further down the line; the Council of Kangs who were the ones who exiled Quantumania’s Kang to the Quantum Realm. The scene shows Jonathan Majors playing many iterations of Kang from across the multiverse, including Immortus and Rama-Tut, who gather to prepare for battle with those who will attempt to stop their plans for the MCU’s future.

While one Kang may have been defeated, Majors’ appearance as hundreds of other Kangs shows that there are many other’s ready to take his place, and gives just a small hint of exactly where he could show up again in future. As Kevin Feige has already teased that Kang will be a prominent figure throughout the Multiverse Saga, it seems he really wasn’t kidding and we are going to see much more of Majors’ variants of Kang in the next three years.

One of the more unexpected cameos in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania comes in the final post-credits scene, when we get our first taste of Loki season 2 thanks to appearances by both Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief and Owen Wilson’s Mobius.

There have been a number of rumors that Jonathan Majors will once again be appearing in Loki after debuting in the first season as He Who Remains, the benign version of Kang who has been keeping all of his variants from breaking through the multiverse. Now it seems that this will be the case, as Majors is seen in the post-credits scene as another variant of Kang, Victor Timely who resides in the 1920s and has a set vision about the possibility of molding time.

While the post-credits scene does not give too much away, it clearly shows that Loki will be on the tail of at least one version of Kang in his new season, most likely with the intention of stopping him becoming the legion of Kangs that has now been witnessed. Also, the simple appearance of Hiddleton’s Loki on the big screen again suggests that his appearance in upcoming movies like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars is all but guaranteed.

For now, the post-credit scene reminds everyone that there are Disney+ shows directly linked to the ongoing Multiverse Saga, and with fewer MCU series reportedly coming this year, it appears that Loki season 2 will be one no-one wants to miss.
