LeBron James was the headliner in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, but Anthony Davis still managed to get himself noticed.
It wasn’t for his on-court play, which consisted of a quiet 13 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes. Rather, Davis caught some people’s attention for his reaction, or lack thereof, to LeBron’s record-breaking basket late in the third quarter.
In a video below shared by Vox Media producer and former Lakers podcaster Anthony Irwin, Davis can be seen remaining seated on the bench as everyone around him goes wild for LeBron passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s all-time scoring leader.
Davis’ lack of emotion has elicited plenty of analysis from Twitter commenters.
“Let’s be real AD has come up short though while Lebron has been in LA,” one said. “Dude has been injured non stop. Lebron has held up his part of the deal mostly every season on the court. You can’t fault the man for wanting to celebrate a Big accomplishment.”
“AD always does this, people process stuff different ways,” another person countered.
“He really is bizarre. Of all nights, AD chooses last night to complain & sulk about not winning enough?” asked PointsBetUSA’s Drew Zlogar.
“Prolly cause they were losing,” another person chimed in.
Last night’s loss dropped the Lakers to 25-30 on the season. Los Angeles is currently in 13th place in the Western Conference, two games back of 10th place and a spot in the play-in tournament.
