Anthony Joshua gives spicy response to Tyson Fury fight offer

Anthony Joshua has told Tyson Fury he will be ready to fight him in December in response to being called out by his fellow British fighter. Fury was heavily expected to fight Oleksandr Usyk but the English fighter has claimed the Ukrainian is ‘b****ing’ and hence turned his attention to his countryman.

A fight dubbed the ‘Battle of Britain’ has been touted between the pair for years and it now appears that it could be on the cards. Usyk was supposed to be first in line to enter the ring against the ‘Gypsy King’ however appears to be stalling and opening the door for Joshua.

Earlier today Fury took to Twitter to request a bout against his fellow heavyweight. He wrote: “Yo @anthonyjoshua what you saying big G let’s give the fanz what they want as Usyk is b****ing??? I got the date and venue who will rule Britannia?”

The tweet followed an early video, also posted on Twitter, where Fury posed with his belts to call out his British rival. “I think you’ve all heard that I’m going to be fighting in the next few months. I think that before I announce an opponent, I need to do this, just in case,” Fury said.

“Anthony Joshua, I know you’ve just lost a fight to Usyk and you’re beltless at the moment. I’d like to give you an opportunity to fight me for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world and the lineal championship in the next few months.

“You’re coming off a 12-round fight, you’re match fit, you’re ready. I’m giving you a few months’ notice. If you’re interested, I’ll send you a date over and we can rumble. A battle of Britain for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world.

“Let me know if you’re interested, if not, I will select another opponent.”

Joshua has now replied, writing in response: “Yea calm. I don’t do the online discussions just for clout, so if your really about it shout @258mgt. I’ll be ready in December. Khalas.”

Talks could now take place between the respective parties with a year-ending match-up on the cards. Any fight would be one of the most highly anticipated of all time given the historic tension between the two boxers as they seek to be considered Britain’s best.

Fury had originally announced his retirement from boxing following his knock-out victory over Dillian Whyte however swiftly announced he would reverse his decision following the Uysk and Joshua’s rematch last month. The Ukrainian won in relatively convincing circumstances after outclassing the orthodox fighter in Saudi Arabia. The 35-year-old hence held the unified WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles he had initially taken from the Brit in 2021.

Fury currently holds the WBC belt and it was expected that he would face Usyk before the end of the year to find out who was the ultimate heavyweight boxer.

34-year-old Fury announced over the weekend that he would soon announce his next fight date over the weekend despite the fact his opponent is yet to be finalised.

It remains to be seen if the pair will face off in their hotly anticipated clash but excitement is certain to rise within the Boxing community as a result of their exchanges.
