Anthony Joshua receives damning callout from Hughie Fury – ‘I’d blitz him’

Tyson Fury’s cousin Hughie Fury believes he would “blitz” Anthony Joshua if they ever fought and is pushing for his opportunity to prove it. The 28-year-old has become somewhat of a forgotten man in a thriving British heavyweight scene.

A combination of inactivity and defeats against world-level opposition have pushed Fury’s name right down the pecking order but the Mancunian is hoping he can claw his way back into the mix by putting together a string of victories. Fury is expected to return to the ring next month in a tune-up fight.

After which, he is ready to take on all challengers and is keen to throw down with AJ. “I’d absolutely blitz him [Joshua]. Listen, they’re the fights I want, 100 per cent,” he told Pro Boxing Fans.

“I want to get this first fight out of the way, and then those fights. Joshua, honestly, I believe wouldn’t stand a chance. He’s a complete stiff. He has nothing about him whatsoever. He wouldn’t stand a chance, I think it would be an easy fight if it happens.”

Joshua is also expected to return to the ring in August, August 12 to be exact, against Dillian Whyte. When they last fought in 2015, Joshua stopped Whyte in the seventh round but ‘the Bodysnatcher’ is vowing to reverse the tables when they rematch next month.

Earlier this week, the fight looked like it wouldn’t be happening due to a disagreement over a one-way rematch clause in Joshua’s favour. Whyte refused to sign the paperwork until the clause was removed from the contract over fears that it would hold up his career in the event of a win.

Joshua has since requested for it to be taken out of the deal and it now looks as though the fight is on. Providing AJ wins against Whyte then he will go on to face Deontay Wilder in December over in Saudi Arabia.

According to Eddie Hearn, Saudi promotional outfit Skills Challenge Promotions are offering Joshua £47.2million ($60m) for the fight while Wilder is expected to pocket an equally impressive figure.
