British heavyweight Anthony Joshua has been sent an emphatic message by fans who have made their feelings known about a potential Tyson Fury fight. After suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk the British heavyweight returned to the ring against Jermaine Franklin earlier this month.
Since his defeat against Usyk last year AJ has employed new trainer trainer Derrick James in a bid to resurrect his boxing career. However, Joshua failed to provide the knockout performance he wanted against Franklin, winning by unanimous decision. After the fight Joshua highlighted his strength towards the end of the 12 round contest and said his stamina had improved resulting in him being ‘confident’ ahead of a Fury blockbuster.
“One of the big issues with me personally was stamina,” said Joshua. “In terms of Tyson Fury, would I need more time? Not necessarily because I have the time now. Coming off a 12-round fight, with that training behind me, we managed to build from here up to here. It’s a great place to be.
“12 rounds isn’t a bad thing if you have a big task like Tyson Fury, who is also a 12-round fighter. The confidence remains the same. But one thing that I am more confident about is my conditioning. I’ll be able to concentrate.”
