The PGMOL released a statement following the disturbing footage, which read: ““PGMOL is aware of videos circulating on social media showing Anthony Taylor and his family being harassed and abused at Budapest Airport. We are appalled at the unjustified and abhorrent abuse directed at Anthony and his family as he tries to make his way home from refereeing the UEFA Europa League final. We will continue to provide our full support to Anthony and his family.”
Some have called for Roma boss Mourinho to face punishment for his comments after this week’s final, when he not only delivered a scathing review of the officials during his post-match interviews, but also confronted Taylor with an X-rated rant in the car park.
“There’s so many videos now of what happened last night,” former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher told Sky Sports. “It’s now become impossible not to take action over this. It’s not a good sight to watch. It’s not good for football and it’s not good for human beings to be talking to people like that.
