According to a report in PTI, actor Anushka Sharma went to the Bombay High Court as she faced legal trouble. Reportedly, Anushka filed a petition recently for the assessment years 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 under the Maharashtra Value Added Tax Act. It is also said that she requested the court to set aside the orders passed by the Sales Tax department.
Reportedly, Anushka argues that she should be taxed as a performer as she believed that tax officials have assessed her at a higher rate than would apply to an actor or performer. As per the reports, Judges Nitin Jamdar and Abhay Ahuja have asked the tax department to respond to Anushka’s appeal while informing them that the case will be heard on 6 February.
Meanwhile, in her personal life, Anushka Sharma who embraced motherhood in January 2021 celebrated her daughter Vamika’s birthday on social media. Sharing a heartwarming picture with her daughter, the Zero actor captioned, “Two years ago my heart grew wide open” whereas her husband and Indian cricketer Virat Kohli also shared a lovely photo with her and wrote, “My heartbeat is 2.”
On the professional front, Anushka Sharma will be next seen in Chakda Xpress which will be streaming on Netflix. The actor has been rigorously training for her movie where she will play the real-life personality Jhulan Goswami who was the captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team.
Earlier, during the announcement of Chakda Xpress, Anushka penned a long note which read, “It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket.”
