Anushka Sharma will return to the screen with Chakda Xpress following a nearly four-year sabbatical after Zero and the birth of her daughter. The actress is putting in a lot of effort on the project and regularly shares images from her practise sessions.
Anushka Sharma trains for Chakda Xpress; Jhulan Goswami expresses excitement
On Instagram today, Anushka shared a video of herself bowling with all her might. She will portray Jhulan Goswami in the film, who was the former captain of India’s national women’s cricket team “That has been the case for the last few days!” the actress wrote as a caption while training in bowling.
On January 6, Anushka Sharma shared a trailer for Chakda Xpress on social media, alongside a lengthy statement. She wrote, “It is a genuinely remarkable picture in that it is ultimately about enormous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is based on former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami’s life and times and will provide a glimpse into the world of women’s cricket. When Jhulan decided to pursue a career in cricket and represent her country on an international level, it was incredibly difficult for women to contemplate the sport at all. This film is a dramatic retelling of numerous significant events in her life and in women’s cricket.”
“We should all express our gratitude to Jhulan and her teammates for transforming women’s cricket in India,” she concluded. Their drive, excitement, and steadfast commitment to bringing women’s cricket to the forefront has altered the game for future generations. I was delighted to hear Jhulan speak as a woman, and it is an honour for me to attempt to communicate her story to audiences and cricket fans. As a cricketing nation, we owe it to our female players to recognise their accomplishments. Jhulan’s story is a true underdog tale in the history of Indian cricket, and the movie is our salute to her spirit.”
The biopic Chakda Xpress will directly release on Netflix.
